Puerto Rico Salsa Congress 2009

Back to Puerto Rico for my second experience at the Salsa Congress.  The performance went really well and the crowd loved our piece!  Luis and Leia joined the PCD crew for the trip.

Fresh off the plane on the first night...ready to head downstairs to the Congress for a little dancing...

Most of the following day involved Tech Rehearsal and getting ready for the show later in the afternoon.  The girls all had a case of the nerves...not over the routine per se...much more about whether or not those dang hair extensions and flowers would stay put while flipping around on stage!  Oh the details guys don't have to worry about...  :)

Post-performance picture time outside on the terrace.  Great beach setting for pics!  Not often you get to hang out on a beach front terrace while waiting to go on stage.  I can take that kind of performance any day of the week!

My first big performance with a different partner.  Brian and Kat couldn't make it on this trip so I borrowed Kat's partner, Mikey.

And ended the piece with Joe in the Star...  The crowd loved that move!

Post-performance with Luis...about to head down for night #2 of dancing and listening to the fantastic bands they had scheduled for the event.

On Saturday we spent the day in Old San Juan, thanks to sun-burns on both Luis and Leia...they needed a break from the beach.

San Sebastian Street...the inspiration for the back-drop on stage...

Leia and her short legs...Luis had to help Leia cross every single "divide" at the Fort at San Cristobal.

This pretty much sums up my relief over a successful performance the night before...

How many pictures can we take in front of this dilapidated tower???

We later found out it is a big no-no to sit on these window sills.  Oops.

Back to the pool after trekking around Old San Juan...

Last day in PR...late check-out times allowed a full day at the beach before dragging our sandy feet to the airport...

Shocking that my fear of heights actually permitted me to climb this thing and slide down the other side.  Great fun when I got to the top and some ten year-old kid called me a wuss.  I told him to check back in with me in 20 years after he has gained the smidgen of wisdom necessary to know how STUPID it is to climb a slippery and teetery flotation device in the middle of the ocean...with a climb up involving the very very  possible risk of falling off and smacking into at least ten bodies on the way down.  I'm not dramatic at all.  It did not help when Cesar informs me only after we have reached the top that he indeed cannot swim.  What?!  Great fun when he asked me to catch him after he slid down the other side.  Never before in my life have I seen such flailing and thrashing in the water by a grown man!  haha.

I clearly do NOT want to return to NYC...
